Fish We're Proud Of
We taste, inspect and cut with intention. If it would not impress us, it does not reach the belt.
Sincerity on a conveyor belt — how Makoto came to Hylan Boulevard.
In Japanese, makoto (诚) means sincerity, truthfulness, and doing something with your whole heart. We chose it because it captures exactly how we want to run a sushi bar: honest fish, honest prices, and genuine care in every single plate that rolls down the belt.
Makoto Revolving Sushi Bar and Tea opened on Hylan Boulevard to give Staten Island a sushi experience that is fresh, fun and refreshingly unpretentious — a place where a quick solo lunch and a lively family dinner are equally at home.
Traditional sushi bars can feel intimidating — hard to read menus, uncertain prices, a quiet hush. We wanted the opposite. The revolving belt removes the guesswork: you see the food, you choose what you love, and the color of each plate tells you the price.
That openness lets families introduce kids to sushi, lets newcomers try one piece at a time, and lets regulars build the exact meal they crave. Behind the belt, our chefs hold the same standards you would expect from any serious sushi kitchen — they have simply made it welcoming.

We taste, inspect and cut with intention. If it would not impress us, it does not reach the belt.

Our team is here to make your visit smooth — first-timers and regulars alike are family here.

Ramen, tempura, rice bowls and 30+ hand-shaken bubble teas round out every visit.
Pull up a seat at the belt and taste what sincerity is all about.
